Susan Clark Is A Passionate Real Estate Agent and Ocean Conservationist
Skilled. Savvy. Smart. Sharp. Service-oriented. All of these words describe Susan Clark, who has established herself in the real estate industry. With a career that spans 36 years, she has built her impeccable reputation, one satisfied client at a time.
A former elementary teacher and Pan Am flight attendant, Susan started her career in San Francisco, before she relocated to the Monterey Peninsula with her husband Allan in 1999. Interestingly, she started in property management to oversee a friend's portfolio of houses, which led her to transition into real estate sales. Now she works for Carmel Realty Company as a trusted real estate professional.
“I work closely with clients,” comments Susan. “My motto is that I do whatever it takes.” Many of her clients don’t live locally and Susan goes above and beyond for them. “If they need me to hire a contractor, change the flooring, or pack up a house, I will find a way to help them.” She works tirelessly for her clients, eager to exceed expectations.
Women’s Council of Realtors
Susan is an avid volunteer, a trailblazer in the community. She is proud to be a member of the Women's Council of Realtors (WCR) and was the founder of the Monterey Peninsula Network, where she served as the Charter President from 2001-02.
“WCR is a very vibrant organization that seeks to advance women as business leaders in the industry and the communities we serve,” says Susan. “It makes me feel good to know that our local network continues to thrive today.”
In addition to her leadership efforts with WCR, Susan is also the Patriotic Service chair of the Colonial Dames (NSCDA) Monterey Peninsula Committee and chair of the Good Citizen Committee of the Commodore Sloat chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Both service organizations support historic preservation, education, and service to our military in numerous ways. Susan tends to focus on the educational aspects of their mission coordinating essay contests in our local schools and participating as a judge in the Lyceum History Day.
Ocean Conservation and Education
“I’m an ocean lover and have been all my life,” says Susan. “I have an affinity for the creatures and the animals in it.” Susan is passionate about ocean conservation and education, which led her to volunteer as a guide at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Her favorite sea creature is the Giant Pacific Octopus. As she says, “If you haven’t looked into the eyes of an octopus, you haven’t lived yet. They’re amazing and very smart.”
You can find Susan on her Thursday shift at the aquarium, where she educates the public about the ocean and inspires conservation. She says, “The ocean has a lot of challenges. Our top priority is to educate ourselves about what we can do to provide solutions.” She loves sharing her experiences at the aquarium with visitors and encouraging them to be good stewards of the ocean.
A Happy Life
When not working, Susan and Allan love to travel. “We’ve been married for 26 years and together for 30 years,” she smiles. Allan is a retired civilian lawyer for the US Navy.
In her free time, Susan likes to play golf, which suits her to a tee. She also loves to walk by the ocean, tend her rose garden, and spend time up at Lake Tahoe to relax and recharge from real estate.
From an elementary school teacher to a real estate agent, Susan is a role model. She is passionate about leading the real estate community in WCR as well as supporting conservation efforts through the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Her dedication to her work and community is admirable, and her commitment to ocean conservation is inspiring.
