Dan Masse of Masse Group
This fourth generation painting firm has the perfect touch.
As a fourth generation painter, when Dan Masse describes his relationship to his painting business, he keeps it simple: “It’s in my blood.”
When Dan was young, he wasn’t quite so sure the business was for him. In fact, he had completely separate plans for his career.
“Coming out of Boston College High School and having my Master’s from Suffolk, I had actually planned to go to law school next.”
Life had other plans, and when Dan was 23, his mother passed away suddenly from a brain aneurysm. Dan stepped up to help his dad run the business.
Dan’s not one to complain, he’s a hard-worker and a natural networker, and soon enough his personality started paying off in spades for the Masse Group painting company.
Dan officially took over the business in 1998, and when he did, he grew the business through a combination of his marketing savvy and his self-starter sensibilities.
“Coming out of college, I really learned how to network and, while it was good to have an existing relationship with my fathers’ clients, I was involved with the community to grow the business.”
But growing your business is only sustainable if you offer the quality service that clients seek—and that’s where Dan stands apart.
“We have full-time employees, we’re fully insured, and we have 160 years of combined experience on our team,” he said. “We prioritize quality paint jobs over quantity without question.”
The team at Masse Group offers painting services for homes, they specialize in high-end residential projects, but they also do a lot of kitchen cabinet refinishing that helps make a home look more modern and crisp.
“We actually have our own spray shop, so when we do cabinets, we take everything off site, paint, and reinstall them.”
Serving clients across the South Shore, Beacon Hill, Cape Cod and Metro West , the team has dedicated themselves to prioritizing perfection in their work.
“We use a brand called Five Paints of Europe, which you actually have to be certified to use because of the application process and high quality.”
This dedication to detail in their work has built Masse Group a steady stream of clients like realtors working with their clients, home owners and buyers, as well as some businesses looking for a high quality finish.
One of the businesses that even caught wind of the Masse Group’s superior paint practice is the Boston Bruins.
“Two years back, we actually repainted the Bruins locker room.”
Part of Dan and his team’s appeal extends beyond their excellent work. As any realtor will tell you, so much in this business is personality-dependent.
“My team is honest, we have a strong work ethic, and we prioritize integrity,” Dan said. “When you do this work, you literally have the keys and alarm codes to people’s houses. It’s up to us to build on our tradition of service and excellent results.”
“We’ll turn down a job when we know the work won't pay off, like when someone needs new shingles, some painters will say it just needs to be repainted, but I won’t—I’ll be honest. I’m looking out for the homeowner.”
With his decades of experience, Dan has built a strong network on the South Shore, running a contractor group in Plymouth, networked on Zoom during the pandemic, hosted lunch and learns with realtors, and created a strong social media and marketing presence for the group.
When he’s not connecting with clients to make sure they’re 100% happy with his team’s work, you can find Dan fishing and hiking in Vermont with his French Bulldog, Forrest.
