From Blockbuster Manager to Making Block Buster Deals in Real Estate

A former Blockbuster district manager for 15 years, Jeremy Fisher always knew the value of real estate.  Born into a military family, Jeremy was no stranger to moving. Every 3 years he was living in new parts of the country, and even lived in Italy.   He consistently saw military officers buying property wherever they were stationed and then converting them to investment properties when they received new orders.  This sparked Jeremy’s first true interest in real estate.
His father’s Army career eventually led him to Texas.  He graduated high school in San Antonio and then attended Southwestern University in Georgetown.
“UT is great, but I really wanted a smaller, liberal arts college,” he says.  Southwestern University was just right and kept him in central Texas which he had grown to love.
While at Southwestern, he got a part-time job at Blockbuster, eventually becoming a district manager.  While mentoring and coaching his employees, he discovered a love for guiding his team to success with sound advice and leadership. “Seeing them move up in the company and excel in their personal lives gave me genuine joy. I helped someone accomplish something they didn't think was within reach. It was a high, and I wanted more.” Little did he know he was laying the foundation for his future career in real estate.

Buying A House Led to A New Career
After buying his first house, Jeremy decided to pursue a career in real estate.  “I realized it was an opportunity to do more, to help people in a more meaningful way.”
He left his 15-year career at Blockbuster and jumped into real estate with both feet and never looked back.  With no income, he was determined to make it.  “I met a Top Producer when I started at Keller Williams, and instantly we hit it off.”  Jeremy knew that the quickest way to achieve his goals was to learn from the best.  So he became part of the best and joined that agent's team.
“I was a buyer’s agent on the team for 4 years,” he reflects.   “Then I went off on my own.”  He joined Realty Austin in 2016 as a solo agent and his determination & drive served him well as he built up his own business.  Hiring his first assistant in 2017 and growing his team from there.
Since going solo, Jeremy has grown his client base and his sales volume, from $3 million in 2016 to almost $20 million in 2022.
Jeremy credits much of his success in real estate to his strong ability to handle adversity and uncertainty after losing both of his parents in a fatal car accident at just 22 years old. "I’ve really tried to take as much good out of it as possible. I wake up every day and focus on the things that bring me joy and give me purpose.”

A New Chapter
With an Austin-grown business & his client-focused mentality, Jeremy has built a diverse family of clients over his career. “I can’t see myself ever doing something other than real estate. It has my heart and is part of my soul. I’m in it for the long haul,” he says.
Living a vegetarian lifestyle has fostered his love for cooking. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking and exploring new vegan recipes along with cultivating his butterfly flower garden.
When he’s not working or enjoying his hobbies, you’ll find him on the trails with his 2 black labs, Molly and Maggie.
With his successful career and commitment to his family and hobbies, Jeremy Fisher is a true Austinite: driven, hardworking, and passionate about making the most of everything life has to offer.
