ERIN CARTER
A Personal Connection
Growing up in Baltimore City, Erin Carter’s foundation was built on the steady rhythm of a strong work ethic and the warmth of family traditions. As the oldest of three daughters, Erin navigated the halls of Seton Keough High and the public school system, but her most cherished memories were formed during summer vacations to Ocean City, Maryland. Early on, she learned the importance of balancing a tireless drive to succeed with the ability to live for the moment.
“My parents were both hard workers, instilling a strong work ethic in me from a young age,” Erin reflects. “They also knew how to have fun and live for the moment, especially my dad.”
That balance of grit and grace guided Erin through a diverse professional journey. Long before she was navigating real estate contracts, she was learning the art of public interaction. At just 14, she started as a church receptionist, followed by a high school role as a bridal coordinator and caterer at The Belvedere in Baltimore. It was there, while crossing paths with guests like Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, that she learned to “come out of her shell” and master the nuances of customer service.
From paralegal work to managing a Bath & Body Works and leading a patient access team for an orthopedic practice, every stop reinforced her path. “I believe all of these positions gave me the experience and customer service skills to be the Realtor I am today,” she says.
The Power of Partnership
In 2023, Erin transitioned into real estate, a move encouraged by her husband and best friend of 24 years, Rob Carter. While she enjoyed her time in the medical field, she felt a "bigger calling" to help people on a grander scale. Today, the duo operates as a powerhouse at Douglas Realty, where they co-own The RE Home Group, a team of 25 agents.
“Rob isn't only my husband, he is my best friend and business partner,” Erin says. “He is also my biggest cheerleader and mentor. He taught me everything I know, and it hasn't always been easy working together, but I wouldn't trade it for anything!”
The Carter legacy in real estate has even become a multi-generational affair; their daughter, Allyson, joined the business after receiving her degree in marketing, while their son, Robbie, currently works as an electrical apprentice. Within the team, Erin has carved out a vital niche. While Rob is the master negotiator, Erin describes herself as the “always available and ready to lend a helping hand where needed.” A certified Buffini coach and Military Relocation Professional (MRP), she prides herself on being the detail-oriented anchor who provides step-by-step guidance. She also finds the greatest fulfillment in working by referral, building her business through trusted relationships and the connections she has nurtured over time. The results speak for themselves: her team was named the top mega team at Douglas Realty for 2025, and Erin recently earned top agent honors for volume and units.
Beyond the Transaction
For Erin, the allure of the industry isn't found in the closing numbers, but in the human stories behind them. She views real estate not as a job, but as a lifestyle—one that has allowed her to turn clients into lifelong friends who invite her to weddings and baby showers.
“It’s not about a transaction to me; it’s more about a personal connection and building a lasting relationship,” she explains.
This philosophy is best illustrated by her work with a young military couple who moved from California to Maryland. Upon closing, Erin gifted them a settlement basket, only to learn they weren't yet 21. “On the husband's 21st birthday, he texted me a picture of him toasting a glass of the champagne with his wife that I got them,” she shares. “The most fulfilling thing is handing over the keys to a first-time home buyer.”
Work Hard, Play Harder
When the signs are pulled from the yards, Erin retreats to the place that has always felt like home: Ocean City. She and Rob own a condo there—a “happy place” that allows for a change of pace while staying connected to their clients.
A true Marylander, Erin is a devoted Orioles and Ravens fan and frequents the Olive Tree in Glen Burnie, a local spot she likens to "Cheers" because everyone knows her name. Whether she’s planning for a Morgan Wallen concert or traveling to Jamaica, her focus remains on movement and connection.
As she looks toward 2026, her goals are rooted in the same values her parents taught her in Baltimore City: maintaining those precious relationships and staying true to her mission. As she puts it, citing Steve Jobs, “The only way to do great work is to love what you do.”
