For more than 25 years, Jodie Carpenter has been a trusted figure in Maryland’s residential real estate industry. As a certified real estate appraiser and owner of JC Appraisals, LLC, she has helped mortgage lenders, consumers, and real estate professionals make confident, informed decisions. Her reputation is built on one simple principle: integrity.

“For over 25 years, mortgage lenders, consumers, as well as other real estate professionals have relied on my expertise to provide high-quality appraisal services on all sorts of residential real estate in Maryland,” Jodie explains. “Integrity and accuracy are the core of what I do.”

Jodie grew up in Bowie, Maryland, and graduated from Bowie High School in 1997. While still in high school, she began working at Residential Appraisal Service, performing office tasks and learning the fundamentals of real estate appraisal. That early start led her to take the necessary courses to earn her appraisal license immediately after graduation.

Her mentor, Steven J. McAdams, played a pivotal role in shaping her career. “I am forever grateful for Steve taking me under his wing and teaching me everything about the real estate industry. I would not be where I am today without Steve!” she says. Over the next two decades, Jodie worked closely with Steve, managing office operations, payroll, and supervising other appraisers while honing her technical expertise.

In 2021, Jodie took the next step in her professional journey. She launched JC Appraisals, LLC, bringing her vision of accuracy, timeliness, and integrity directly to clients. “I consistently deliver appraisal reports that are accurate, well-supported, and objective, using the latest market trends and techniques so that my clients can make the most informed decisions,” she notes.

While Jodie is trained to handle any type of residential property, she specializes in new construction appraisals, including construction permanent loans. She often completes appraisals based solely on plans and specifications, a process that requires a precise eye and meticulous attention to detail.

“My ideal clients are those who need accurate, credible valuations to support decisions,” she says. “My expertise can help any agent with pre-sale appraisals, estate sales, and divorces.”

Years of experience have given Jodie a perspective that combines both technical skill and an understanding of client needs. “Having a great mentor, determination, integrity, working hard, and having pride in producing credible and the most accurate appraisal reports — that has been the key to my success,” she reflects.

Though her career is demanding, Jodie emphasizes the importance of balance. She lives in Crofton, Maryland, with her husband, Kevin Wolf, and their four children. Her family keeps her busy, from college commitments to high school soccer and dance recitals. “Needless to say, we stay busy and enjoy watching our kids do what they love,” she shares. Family game nights, trips to see the Washington Capitals, and shopping outings keep the household lively.

Jodie also dedicates time to her community. She serves as PTA Treasurer at her stepdaughter’s school and as PTSO Treasurer at her stepson and youngest daughter’s school. “Being an appraiser has allowed me the flexibility to run my business and still be there for my kids and family before and after school, etc.,” she says with a laugh.

For the future, Jodie plans to expand her professional network and grow JC Appraisals, LLC, with an eye toward mentoring the next generation of appraisers. “My future goal is to eventually be able to mentor/train another appraiser, like Steve did for me,” she explains.

She also hopes to continue helping Realtors and Loan Officers achieve their goals and, ultimately, help people realize the American dream of homeownership. “I’d like any realtor to feel free to call, text, or email me with any questions or concerns they have on any sale or deal they are working on. I’m happy to help them be successful,” Jodie says.
