MARY JAMESON

Selling the Shore and Beyond

Growing up in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Mary Jameson was the oldest of five children in a close-knit household where her mother stayed home and her father worked as a police officer in Washington, D.C. That upbringing — one marked by structure, duty, and a deep sense of care — would quietly shape the next several decades of her life.

“I’ve always had a strong work ethic,” Mary shares. “That came from my parents.”

Before stepping into the real estate world, Mary spent 44 years in an entirely different industry — one that allowed her to build connections and trust with people every single day.

“I was a hairstylist,” she says. It was a career that allowed her to listen, to learn, and to help people feel like the best version of themselves. But by 2020, Mary was ready for something different.

“I wanted to have more control of my time and income,” she explains. That desire became the launching point for a new chapter — one she was eager to write.

The Transition to Real Estate
Mary began her real estate journey at Long & Foster, where she still works today as an individual agent. She entered the field with no illusions about the challenges ahead, but plenty of optimism about what she could achieve.

In just a few short years, Mary has already carved out space for herself in a competitive industry. Her accolades speak volumes: Rookie of the Year at BAAR in 2022 and 2023, and most recently, the 2024 Presidential Award.

But behind the awards is a deeper motivation — one rooted in community and care.

“I find fulfillment in helping families transition with ease,” Mary says. “It’s also about building community relationships and continuous learning.”

That commitment to both people and professional growth defines much of her approach. Whether supporting first-time buyers or helping seniors and veterans navigate their housing options, Mary’s focus is personal.

“Community-focused, a passion for helping veterans and seniors, strong online presence, and industry involvement — that’s what makes my business unique,” she says.

Life Beyond the Office
When Mary isn’t working, she’s almost certainly surrounded by family — or animals. Married with two children, Megan and Bob, and six grandchildren, Mary’s life outside real estate is full. “We have three golden retrievers — Charlie, Ellie, and Cody — and one shepherd mix named Chloe. Plus, a Maine coon cat named Jack,” she says with a smile.

Her favorite way to spend time? “Pool side,” she replies without hesitation. But Mary also loves more adventurous escapes, from camping at the beach to cruising Alaska with her daughter Megan. Wineries and breweries are also high on the list — easy, relaxed settings that reflect Mary’s appreciation for time well spent.

Looking Ahead
While Mary’s path into real estate may have been a second act, she’s approaching it with the ambition and energy of someone just getting started. Her goal for 2025 is simple but bold: “Double last year’s sales.”

It’s an outlook that mirrors the advice she gives to other aspiring top producers: “Be sure to follow up on all calls, emails, and prospects.”

Mary is also committed to giving back. Through her involvement in local charity events like St. Baldrick’s, Christmas Angels, and BAAR’s Back to School Trivia Night, she continues to invest in the community that helped shape her.

If she could create one rule for the world to follow, she says it would be to “create a focus on kindness.”

That sentiment — quiet, steady, and full of purpose — runs through everything Mary does. From her early years in a busy household to decades in the beauty industry and now, as a decorated real estate agent, Mary Jameson has always stayed true to one guiding principle: to serve others with heart.

As she puts it, simply, “Selling the shore and beyond.”
