JIMMY WHITE

From Badge to Bayfront

Jimmy White grew up in Bladensburg, Maryland, a place that shaped both his work ethic and his sense of service. At 18, he began his career as a police cadet with the Prince George’s County Police Department. Over the next 24 years, he rose through the ranks, ultimately retiring as a police captain and district commander.

“Since then, I have re-invented myself twice,” Jimmy shares. After law enforcement, he became the public relations director for the Maryland State Lottery, a role he held for 11 years. By his tenth year with the lottery, Jimmy felt it was time to explore something new. He took real estate classes with the goal of helping friends and family in retirement — a decision that would launch a second flourishing career.

Jimmy joined the Kent Island office of Long And Foster Real Estate and Mortgage and was immediately captivated. “I was very fortunate to have the marketing experience I gained at the lottery as well as attaining a master’s degree in marketing. I put all of that to use and had immediate success,” he explains. In his first year, he met fellow agent Mary Elaine Casson, and together they formed the Jimmy White Team, quickly gaining a reputation for expertise in waterfront properties and upper-end communities. Their career sales now top $450 million.

Despite the professional achievements, Jimmy’s personal life remains a constant source of joy. He has “accumulated only one wife, Karen White, who I met in the sixth grade.” Together, they have raised two children and are now grandparents to five grandchildren. The couple lives in a waterfront home on Eastern Bay, where they enjoy boating and sharing time with family. Jimmy jokes about his golf skills: at one point “I became a fairly good golfer. At another point along the way I became a terrible golfer. Currently, I am a seldom golfer, but I still love the game.” Meanwhile, his wife keeps him on his toes. “She plays golf several days a week, walks 15,000 steps a day, and exercises every day, making it increasingly hard for me to keep up with her.”

For Jimmy, the real reward in real estate goes far beyond numbers. “Real estate is a very rewarding business, not just at the conclusion of a successful transaction. I have developed so many close friendships with many that started with me helping them through a real estate transaction,” he says. He recalls running into clients years after a sale who still express their gratitude. “Even years later, many times someone from a prior transaction will approach me at the grocery store or a restaurant or the pharmacy and take ten minutes telling how much they love their house, even those who had their own realtor for the transaction. That’s why, like in that first year of my career, I continue to enjoy and love this business.”

Jimmy credits much of his work ethic to lessons learned from his father. A simple, yet enduring mantra guided him throughout his careers: “Shine your shoes, comb your hair, and show up every day.” That philosophy carried him from the streets of Bladensburg to police headquarters, and ultimately to success in real estate.

The Jimmy White Team now includes Mary Casson, Gina Disbrow, and Karen White. Together, they emphasize professionalism and passion, guided by a clear philosophy. “We know what we are doing and we love doing it,” Jimmy says.

Looking ahead, Jimmy remains focused on growth and adaptation. His goal for 2026 is “keeping up with, and embracing the important changes in the business to best serve my buyer and seller clients.” For him, success is not just a figure on paper, but the ability to continue building relationships, delivering results, and enjoying every moment along the way.

On any given day, Jimmy can be found navigating the waterfront, spending time with family, or mentoring clients through one of life’s biggest decisions. And through it all, the principles instilled in him decades ago continue to guide him: dedication, integrity, and a genuine love for the work he does.
