SCOTT SCHUETTER
Rooted in Service

For Scott Schuetter, the real estate business has never been about transactions. It’s about people. Relationships. Trust. Service. And that’s not just a philosophy—it’s how he lives his life.
Since beginning his real estate career in 2007, Scott has built one of Annapolis’ most successful teams, earning What's Up Best of Annapolis honors nine years running. He currently serves as the team lead of Shrek and Crew at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty, where he continues to guide his clients and team with a simple but effective motto: Personal, Professional, Pressure Free.
Scott’s path to real estate started halfway around the world, in the middle of a life change. “Adopting our oldest son and deciding to stay in Annapolis” was the moment that led him away from a military career and into a profession he never imagined pursuing. “My wife said I should try real estate,” he once recalled. “I thought I would hate it. I had this preconceived notion of what the profession was. But in the end, I just listened to Dana and stayed true to who I was.”
True to himself. That theme surfaces again and again in Scott’s story—from his early years in Arkansas, where he enlisted in the Navy to pay for college due to his family’s financial struggles, to his eventual appointment to the Naval academy and service in the Navy, and ultimately to his work in real estate and community advocacy.
“Because of my background and the path needed to get where I am, I never take it for granted, ever!” Scott says. “I am extremely grateful each and every day as I could never have dreamed of being where I am from where I came from.”
Before ever showing a home, Scott served a combat tour in Iraq and taught Leadership at the Naval Academy. His education, discipline, and resilience have become cornerstones of how he runs his business. But it’s his desire to serve that stands out most.
That commitment is reflected in his deep involvement with organizations across the region, including being a board member of the Billy Hurley Foundation, three time President and board member of the Annapolis Touchdown Club, Anne Arundel County Food Bank, Tunnels to Towers, Local sports organizations and area schools.
“The two organizations that I am most active and passionate about are Billy's Foundation and the Touchdown Club. The Billy Hurley Foundation’s primary mission is to create vacation experiences for junior sailors and their families that they would not normally experience, and the Touchdown Club supports underprivileged youth athletics in Anne Arundel County. I was that sailor, and I was that young athlete, and I will never forget that and I will never stop looking for ways to help and to impact their lives in a positive way!” Scott added.
At home, Scott and his wife Dana are guiding and mentoring two children—Cade and Alice. Cade is starting his freshman year and will be playing baseball at Colorado State University Pueblo, and Alice is starting her sophomore year at Broadneck and is extremely involved at school with a natural gift of connection and thoughtfulness. Dana is a mental health therapist and specializes in grief, trauma, and internal family systems. “She is super talented,” he says. “It is fun to see her finally be able to share her gifts after being so selfless and supportive for so many years for my career.”
In his free time, Scott keeps things active and family-oriented. “Golf, pickleball, and traveling with my family are at the top of the list,” he says without hesitation. A self-described sports enthusiast, he finds balance in competition and camaraderie—just as he does in business.
So what’s next for someone who’s already achieved so much? “Keep on rocking!” he says with a grin.
If there’s one principle that guides Scott’s life—in business, parenting, or community—it’s simple: “Be kind and honest.” That, more than any sales figure or title, is the standard he holds himself to.
And after nearly two decades of making a difference—client by client, person by person, kid by kid—it’s clear that standard is working.
