Greg Pickett

Still Swinging for Success

Before Greg Pickett was closing deals, he was chasing fastballs. A former professional baseball player turned REALTOR®, Greg has built his real estate career on the same principles that once defined his time on the field: discipline, drive, and an unwavering belief in self.

Greg grew up in southeast Aurora, where baseball was more than a pastime—it was his purpose. After an All-American high school career, he was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies and went on to play professionally for five years. But when that chapter ended, the transition wasn’t easy.

“When I got released, I was kind of clueless about anything besides baseball,” he says. The shift forced him to start from scratch—an experience that would ultimately lay the foundation for his future in real estate.

After baseball, Greg explored personal training, drawn by the chance to work with people and help them achieve their goals. But the ceiling was too low for his ambition. “I liked the people part of that business but didn’t like how earnings were capped based on the number of sessions you could fit into your schedule,” he explains. Conversations with friends in real estate opened his eyes to a world that perfectly blended hustle, creativity, and entrepreneurship. He jumped in without hesitation.

Those early days tested him. With few connections and limited experience, Greg had to build his career the hard way—by meeting people, finding mentors, and learning through trial and error. “Starting at first with minimal connections, knowledge, and mentors, I had to figure it out and meet people along the way,” he says. That persistence paid off. In just four years, Greg has achieved more than $62 million in career volume, including $14.5 million in 2022 alone.

Today, as part of Compass, Greg thrives in an environment surrounded by high-performing agents who challenge him to keep growing. “The best part about being at a brokerage like Compass is interacting with all the high-powered agents,” he shares. It’s that energy—the constant exchange of ideas and motivation—that keeps him sharp and inspired.

For Greg, success isn’t measured by awards or numbers but by fulfillment. “Being successful to me means being able to get what you want out of life,” he says. That mindset keeps him grounded, even through the highs and lows of the business. Each deal, each client, and each new connection represents another chance to improve his craft and push his limits.
Outside of work, Greg's outlet is fitness. At 6'5" and 250 pounds, he's far from a gifted runner, but he tackles the Colfax Marathon every year—slowly, he'll admit with a grin. He lifts weights regularly, enjoys grilling with friends, and loves exploring Denver's restaurant scene at spots like Tavernetta, Sushi Den, and Hillstone. You'll often find him at UFC fights or cheering on Denver sports teams (though he'll pass on the Rockies), and when he needs to recharge, he heads to Wash Park, where he lives and can often be seen enjoying the neighborhood he calls home.

Looking ahead, Greg’s focus remains simple but powerful: keep improving, keep building, and never lose sight of the values that got him here. As he puts it, “Surround yourself with people smarter than you. Don’t get sucked up in all the distractions in the business.”

For Greg Pickett, baseball may have ended years ago—but the game never really stopped. He’s still stepping up to the plate every day, taking his swings, and proving that with consistency and resilience, there’s always another inning to play.
