Cooper Thayer
Always Moving Forward

If there’s one thing Cooper Thayer doesn’t do, it’s stand still.
A licensed REALTOR® since just after his 18th birthday, Cooper joined the family business while most of his peers were still figuring out what to major in. Six years later—with more than $200 million in career volume and a spot on the Denver Metro Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors—he’s not just keeping pace. He’s leading the charge.
“I grew up around real estate,” Cooper shares. “My parents were passionate about it, and that rubbed off on me. But it took a few years before I realized that it was my passion, too.”
His first entry into the industry came at 15 years old, flying drones and shooting aerial photography for local agents. He was hooked. “I loved seeing homes, meeting people, capturing properties in the best light,” he recalls. “I was fascinated by the entire process.”
Still, Cooper initially imagined a different path. After graduating early from CU Boulder’s Leeds School of Business with a degree in Finance and Real Estate and a minor in Economics, he pursued an internship at an investment firm. “I thought I was going into corporate finance,” he admits. “But the structure wasn’t for me. I realized I wanted to be an entrepreneur.”
The family business was already there, waiting. But it wasn’t just a fallback—it was a launchpad.
Today, Cooper leads The Thayer Group at Keller Williams Action Realty. The team operates under a distributed model, where all brokers are designated on every transaction. “It reflects the way we work: collaboratively, uniquely, with each person playing a different role in every deal,” he explains. Since transitioning to full-time, the team has closed more than $111 million in volume.
But numbers only tell part of the story. Cooper is just as committed to shaping the future of real estate as he is to serving clients today.
He serves on the Board of Directors for the Denver Metro Association of REALTORS®, is a DMAR Emerging Champion Award recipient, and is actively involved in legislative policy, tax reform, and market trends advocacy across Colorado. “I love being part of the bigger picture—solving problems that affect our industry and our clients,” he emphasizes. “Education, advocacy, and transparency are key.”
That drive for leadership comes naturally. “Our family thrives on momentum,” he reflects. “When the market slows, we don’t worry about revenue—we worry about stagnation.”
That same energy shapes his business philosophy. Whether it’s helping a client navigate their first home purchase or mentoring a new broker, Cooper believes in staying proactive, staying informed, and staying present.
“I get so much enjoyment out of what I do,” he adds. “Working with family means the lines between work and life are intentionally blurred. We’re always on, but we love it.”
When he does find downtime, Cooper enjoys playing squash, watching sports, and golfing. He’s a regular at Denver Nuggets games with his family and loves discovering new restaurants around the city. The family also gives back through The Thayer Group Scholarship, awarded annually to graduating seniors from his alma mater, Castle View High School—over $8,000 and counting.
At just 24, Cooper has already achieved more than many do in a lifetime. But for him, it’s not about milestones; it’s about momentum. Forward motion. What’s next.
“I want to be remembered as someone who helped move the industry forward,” he says with conviction. “Someone who cared about people, who led by example, and who never stood still.”
