Zoe Macaulay
The Value of Home
For Zoe Macaulay, home has always carried meaning.
Long before she became the broker and owner of RE/MAX SYNERGY in Historic Downtown Littleton, Zoe understood how much a home can shape a life. Growing up, her family moved more than a dozen times across three countries.
“REALTORS® made a huge impact in my life, good and bad,” Zoe says. “It is such an important job helping people buy and sell their homes.”
Before real estate, Zoe spent 21 years as an account executive for a cosmetic company. The job kept her traveling weekly, building relationships and working with people across markets. Still, the part she came to value most was the feeling waiting for her at the end of each trip.
“It was always the comfort of coming home,” she says, “that made me want to pursue real estate as a career.”
In 2010, Zoe made the move into the industry. She brought with her the customer-service mindset, communication skills and work ethic she had built over more than two decades in her previous career. More than anything, she came in with a clear understanding of what the job could mean to people.
For Zoe, real estate has always centered on trust. “It’s the feeling of helping people find ‘the home’ and the relationships and the trust you build,” she explains.
Over the past 16 years, she’s built her career on exactly that. Since joining RE/MAX in 2015, she has earned RE/MAX Platinum Club recognition every year and has been inducted into the RE/MAX Hall of Fame. Along the way, she has also expanded her work as an investor, with residential investments and ownership of the commercial building where RE/MAX SYNERGY is located. In 2015, Zoe became the Broker | Owner of RE/MAX SYNERGY, where she’s built a team of motivated, driven, customer-service focused agents.
“I am so proud of building this woman-led brokerage,” Zoe shares. “It is built on a culture of empowerment where we believe collaboration over competition creates space for everyone to succeed both professionally and personally.”
That culture is reflected in agents like Heather Reed and Beth Davis, two leaders in the office who represent the drive, generosity and mentorship Zoe values. Beth Davis has received numerous mentions in 5280 magazine and is a Lifetime Achievement Award winner at RE/MAX. Heather Reed is the Team Leader of the Reed Estate Team, has earned the RE/MAX Torch Bearer award for Top 40 Under 40 and holds the RE/MAX Circle of Legends achievement. Both are hardworking mothers, agents and investors who rank among the top 1% of real estate agents in Colorado and mentor others along the way.
For Zoe, that kind of success is part of what makes ownership so fulfilling. The past few years have tested many agents, and she believes the people who continue to grow are the ones who have invested in relationships, protected their reputation and stayed useful to the people around them.
Her advice to rising producers is simple: “Be as valuable as you can to people,” she emphasizes. “Learn to listen more than you speak so that you can uncover what people need from you.”
Outside of real estate, Zoe’s life is centered around family. She and her husband, Bill, have been married for 35 years. Their three grown children, Matt, Sydney and Meghan, and their grandchildren Camden, McKinLee, Emilia and Oliver, with a fifth grandchild expected in September, are her “why.”
She also remains close with her mother, brother, sister, nieces and nephews. Together, they enjoy traveling, celebrating milestones and cheering on the kids in sports. Zoe played hockey for years and now enjoys pickleball and kickboxing. She also reads at least one book a week, with biographies among her favorites.
“I think people are so interesting and there is a lesson to be learned from everyone you meet,” she says.
Zoe’s belief in people has shaped her community involvement as well. For the past 11 years, she has volunteered with Meals on Wheels and continues to support the senior population whenever she can.
Through every part of her life and business, Zoe comes back to the values her parents taught her: work hard, dream big and believe anything is possible. Those values shaped the way she raised her own children, the way she leads her brokerage and the way she serves clients.
For Zoe, the value of home is where her story began. It is also what she continues to cultivate through her clients, her agents, her family and her community. In the end, she hopes to be remembered for the same qualities that have guided the work all along.
“Being kind, hardworking and making a difference in people’s lives.”
