Jayson & Melanie Massey

We Do Not Do Scary!

Leading with words like, “we clean up life’s accidents,” the owners of Spaulding Decon know that their role in the lives of clients is vital – for health’s sake and the protection of assets.  Sometimes life hands us lemons … or rather, in this case, something of a biohazard nature, and we cannot make lemonade; we need someone to correct our course and restore cleanliness and safe living. That is when people call Melanie and Jayson Massey.  They are knowledgeable, trained, and efficient – all at a competitive cost.
Melanie, a former Social Worker and her husband, Jayson, a former State Trooper – along with Melanie’s mother, Mary Jo, who is a nurse, decided to build a house together.  Along the journey, Mary Jo, who had owned a business in Kansas City announced that she would like to start another business.   After the group studied many franchises, they settled upon Spaulding Decon.  “It seemed pretty obvious that we were meant for it,” said Melanie.
There was a significant time investment to establish their business, and they are quite pleased about their strategic formation.  The number one thing they tell people is “do not try to clean this up yourself.” Sometimes there are truly hazardous conditions, so the Masseys will guide people in their decisions and be there when needed.  Other times, there are regulated waste issues and certifications are needed for clean-up, so not every situation is as it seems.
People enjoy working with the team at Spaulding Decon because they are honest, operate with integrity, and treat people the right way.  They are known for doing what they say they will do and for making anything right.   Families love the fact that they are reliable and timely, and the company has some great connections for certain jobs that require a different specialization.
For Melanie, success comes when everyone smiles in the end and expresses appreciation.  “When people call, they are often facing something causing trauma, and when everything turns positive, I know we have been successful,” she says.  Working from the mantra that the “change you want is on the other side of a difficult conversation,” Melanie notes that they are unafraid to take on challenges.   People are often startled by things they find in homes, and most of the time, there is an apparent solution.
Spaulding Decon also works in many homes where hoarding has taken place, and Melanie explains that her background in social work can kick in.  “I am interested in restoring the home to a great place, but I am also concerned about helping the individual to restore their life too.”  In addition to working with issues of biohazard and hoarding, the company also addresses such instances of mold and water damage, and they have helped people restore homes that have had a drug lab in them.   Spaulding Decon has even been known to buy a home that no one would touch and restore it for sale.
Melanie and Jayson have been married for 17 years, and they have a four-year-old daughter, Kaylee.  They work hard and use their extra time to spend as a family.   Melanie leverages her patient, dedicated and caring approach to serve her family and friends along with clients.   The family enjoys beaches and the ocean, and if Melanie had to pick any job in the world, she would love to become a professional Karaoke singer.
Spaulding Decon wants you to never take things into your own hands when it comes to life’s messes.  Some materials are quite dangerous (virus-oriented things, fentanyl, etc.), and they work to keep people safe and see homes restored to good use.   For more information, you may call them at 317.800.1546 directly or email Melanie at mmassey@spauldingdecon.com.
You will believe it when you see them clean it!
