Landon Hornby
Cut From The Same Cloth
“My father built over 1,500 homes in Lincoln and the surrounding areas; and ever since I could remember, all I wanted to do was build and own large apartments and buildings.”
A promise Landon Hornby made to himself a long time ago — and kept. Today, the Lincoln-based Realtor and investor leads Lighthouse Realty Group at Nebraska Realty and serves as CEO of Hornby Enterprises, his private portfolio and equity company.
Landon co-owns Lighthouse, where he runs an intentionally lean and focused operation built on faith, discipline, and an old-school work ethic. Through that approach, he personally closed over $12 million in sales last year — yet his real focus isn’t on the numbers, but on building a lasting legacy.
Learning From Loss
Landon grew up in Palmyra, and describes his younger self as “a small town boy with big dreams.” In a house with four brothers born within four years, there was plenty of competition and loyalty.
A natural athlete, Landon played every sport in high school and still holds Palmyra’s football tackle record (416). At UNL, he studied finance and business, joined Beta Theta Pi, and started thinking about career options.
Then life hit hard.
“My dad died of a brain tumor in late 2019 when I was 19,” Landon recalls. “So I quickly dove head first into real estate and learned from trial and error, working 90-hour weeks in the sales, remodeling, and renting aspect until I found a foothold.”
That season of heartbreak reshaped everything: Landon came to Christ, met Anastasiya (now his wife) at a business conference, and set his future course for real estate.
Purpose Over Ego
Last year alone, Landon received Diamond Club honors while ranking in the Top 25 for volume and units. He has also been recognized as one of the top small teams at Nebraska Realty for the past several years.
But ask Landon for his definition of success and he doesn’t mention accomplishments.
“Success isn’t about wealth or status, it’s about alignment. When God comes first, everything else falls into place,” he points out. “Business is the platform, family is the heart, and God is the foundation.”
That clarity guides how he leads, serves, and chooses where to invest precious time and energy. He’ll tell you straight up: “I put God at the center of it all. He deserves all the glory.”
Lighthouse Realty Group reflects that belief with genuine relationships and zero fluff. CRM automations? Not his thing. “They are too fake for me,” he shrugs. “Instead, when I see someone that really needs help and might be struggling in some area of their life, I put in a lot more effort to make sure they’re OK. God tugs at my heart.”
Nimble Group
There was a moment when Lighthouse Realty Group had eight agents. Then Landon and Shelly Nessetti pared down to the right two.
“We are now focused on running lean and mean with quality agents,” he explains.
He and Shelly work “as efficiently as possible,” winning by design — not by adding bodies.
That approach also shows in how Landon holds himself accountable: “Everything I do, in business and in life, comes from purpose, not ego. I care deeply about the people I work with; and I want to be known not just as someone who built a strong business, but as someone who helped others rise while keeping integrity at the center of it all.”
It’s also why his clients love him. He doesn’t push for reviews; he just serves and lets outcomes speak for him.
“Most clients just love the energy I bring,” he says simply. “They tell me they feel cared for.”
Landon’s advice for aspiring top agents stays consistent with how he moves through the world: “Most people won’t want you to rise higher than them, but if you stay disciplined, humble, and relentless, you’ll pass them before they even realize you’ve taken off.”
Family Ties
Landon and Anastasiya have been married for two years now and are raising their one-year-old daughter, Elsie — their daily reminder of what matters most.
Faith knits their family together with attendance at College View Church. Landon is also involved with Christian Business Men’s Connection (CBMC) during the week, support for the Jesus Film Project, and other faith and humanity-based efforts.
“It is hard to believe, but 35% of the world has never heard the Gospel,” Landon points out.
When they’re off the clock, the Hornby's love to appreciate beauty in all its many forms — snorkeling, documentaries, and detours to study “old mansions and luxury real estate.” They travel to learn as much as to rest: Honduras is up next, then Puerto Vallarta, Paris, and Japan early in the new year.
“We share a passion for exploring the world’s most beautiful architecture and rich history while drawing inspiration for the life and business we’re building,” Landon smiles.
On the portfolio side, Landon has recently purchased land for future multifamily developments, waiting for the construction numbers to make sense before breaking ground. Rentals are the current focus, with large multifamily, mixed-use projects, and private equity down the road.
He also dreams of restoring historic architecture, and — one day — reimagining European castles as boutique hotel collections.
“There’s one castle in Scotland right now that I have my eye on, but I need to obtain citizenship first for tax purposes. God willing, this will be coming to fruition within the next 10 years,” he shares.
On a personal level, Landon aspires to continue to be the man God designed him to be and lead a home filled with love, adventure, and belief.
“The future, for me, is about building something that lasts, not just in real estate, but in legacy,” he concludes. “I want everything we build to reflect gratitude, integrity, and the understanding that true success is measured not by what we gain, but by the good we leave behind.”
