Tafe Sup Bergo’s success in real estate is deeply intertwined with her family's history. Growing up in Lincoln, she was exposed to the industry from a very young age.

"My family has been involved with commercial, residential, hunting, and agricultural properties my whole life,” Tafe recalls.

Before she became a REALTORⓇ at Wood Bros Realty, Tafe was an integral part of her family's clothing store businesses, a successful enterprise that spanned over five decades. She loved helping customers find their perfect fit to boost their confidence, but going to market and buying for the stores was her favorite part of her role. Advertising, merchandising, marketing and customer service skills were also her strengths. Additionally, Tafe co-owned Doozy's Sandwich Shop in downtown Lincoln.

Tafe’s entrepreneurial background in retail and business management equipped her with valuable skills that would later prove indispensable in her career as a REALTOR.

“I would say it really was my constant exposure to the industry from my family that allowed me to hit the ground running,” Tafe notes. “ I have so much experience in real estate growing up with it; I flipped a number of houses, I own rentals, I manage long-term and short-term rentals, and I’m an active member of our family’s commercial development companies.”

A Turning Point
Tafe's career path took an unexpected turn when her family's clothing store business, The Post & Nickel, faced a crisis. In 2011, a city water main break caused significant damage to the family's properties in downtown Lincoln. Despite the adversity, the family decided to rebuild from the ground up, even though the loss wasn't covered by insurance.

“It was an absolute catastrophe, the basement looked like an Olympic-sized swimming pool and we had just received our new shipment of fall clothing,” Tafe remembers. “Since the flooding was not covered by insurance, this led us down the path of closing the stores and taking the entire building down to the studs and literally, starting over.”

This challenging period became a transformative pivot for Tafe. It led her to engage more actively in real estate and leverage her family's vast experience by obtaining her real estate license in 2016.

Today, the buildings at the intersection of 14th and P Street have been fully-renovated and are now home to Chase Bank, Medidia, and The Zoo Bar. There are also seven luxury condos above the commercial spaces that are managed by Tafe, which keeps her busy and equips her with an intimate knowledge of property management.

Keys to Success
Tafe's approach to her work is characterized by integrity, attentiveness, and a deeply caring nature. One of the most fulfilling aspects of her work is getting to know her clients on a personal level. She also finds immense satisfaction in helping them navigate the challenges of buying or selling a property.

“I really do enjoy helping clients find what they are looking for and connecting them to their perfect spot,” Tafe smiles. “At the same time, homes and businesses are all properties that represent time, and letting go of those can be difficult. So I am there to help sell the property as smoothly as possible, and I see it as my job to be there for my clients each step of the way.”

Tafe's secret sauce recipe for success is straightforward: For her, it's about providing exceptional service, always doing what's right, and doing it well the first time to ensure her clients' needs are met efficiently and effectively.

"Currently, I am working on life-balance, and if I could magically figure that out …” Tafe laughs as she reflects. “Not forgetting what is most important in life and balancing it all would make me feel more successful.”

Beyond the Numbers
While some agents prefer to keep close tabs on their rank, sales volume, and number of transactions, Tafe has taken a different, holistic view. She focuses on her clients and the service she provides, emphasizing that her ambitions extend beyond numbers.

“Each transaction for me is about my clients and helping them from one place to another,” Tafe affirms. “We all need to make a living, but my main goals are not about sales.”

Regardless, Tafe has received plenty of recognition for her contributions to the industry. She was honored with the Co-Star Power Broker award in 2020 and received the Woods Bros Rising Star Award in 2017. Her impressive performance earned her a spot in the Woods Bros Chairman's Top 10 Percent from 2018 to 2022, while Tafe's commitment to her work was also acknowledged by the Downtown Lincoln Association, which inducted her into their Hall of Fame in 2017.

Outside the Office
While Tafe's professional life revolves around all things real estate, her personal life is equally rewarding. Her family includes three children, DJ (24), Lucio (21), and Siena (16). Enzo and Mia, two beloved Golden Retrievers, also contribute to making Tafe’s household a loving, lively one.

In her spare time, Tafe enjoys hanging out with her family and friends, spending time at her cabin, practicing yoga, and cherishing memories made together when traveling, especially abroad.

“We are absolutely obsessed with South Africa,” Tafe shares. “We’ve been there four times already, and we can’t wait to go back again … I can’t predict the future, but as for my wishes and dreams, I just hope my future involves lots of international travel!”

As Tafe continues to crush expectations at Wood Bros Realty, she offers a real world lesson in what it means to be diligent and humble while upholding her family’s reputation for integrity.

"It's a hard business to be in, there are always going to be highs and lows — it's a roller coaster, and you have to keep with it,” Tafe advises.

“But go make connections, be honest, and don’t give up,” she adds. “Enjoy the times that are not as busy because the crazy season is just around the corner; and most importantly, have faith that it will all work out!”
