Homesight Inspections Inc.

Homesight Inspections has earned over 700 five-star Google reviews. Not only is that impressive,  but it also shows that the service they deliver creates a memorable and positive client/agent experience.

That’s what Dave Kolesari envisioned when he created Homesight 25 years ago. Dave spent four years in the Navy as a jet engine mechanic in Jacksonville, FL, but he always knew he wanted to come back home to Wisconsin and find a job “where I would look forward to my Mondays as much as my Fridays.”

He was drawn to home inspection. He involved himself in the home inspection community, soon becoming president of the Wisconsin Association of Home Inspectors and then nationally as president of the National Association of Home Inspectors.

Through the AHIT (American Home Inspectors Training), Dave also taught the art of home inspection across the country to prospective home inspectors. He worked solo as an inspector for 15 years before he decided the business needed to grow.

Jill Haushalter, David’s wife and co-owner of Homesight, became a licensed Wisconsin real estate agent in 2005 and quickly earned rookie of the year in her office. She found her niche serving homebuyers and sellers who wanted to be well-informed and confidently guided through the homebuying and selling process.

But the fallout in 2008-09 sent her back to the corporate world, most recently as a regional sales specialist in the senior housing construction industry for a Chicago-based company. The three-hour commute through Chicago traffic got old pretty quickly. When COVID-19 shut the city and the nation down, Jill decided to join Dave and turn Homesight into a team. Her passion for real estate and Dave’s love for home inspection really clicked.

Now, Homesight is the largest home inspection company in Wisconsin, with seven inspectors — plus two in the training pipeline — and a full office staff located in multiple offices across Southeast Wisconsin.

“Our size, structure and partnerships put us in the position to do what other home inspectors or companies simply can’t,” says Dave. “From our speedy inspection turnaround times and large service area footprint, we’ve been able to support our local REALTORS® with remarkable customer service.”

“We really are a one-stop shop for all inspection and testing needs,” adds Jill.

Homesight has made itself into a company that professionals want to align themselves with.

“You know,” says Dave, “a recent article in the NAR REALTOR® Magazine stated that 94% of sellers don’t disclose property defects. That is an alarming number.” For an inexperienced buyer, skipping a home inspection can be a disastrous decision.

“An untrained buyer may have no idea what really could be wrong beyond the cosmetics of a home,” says Jill. “When searching for a new home, it is easy
to become emotionally attached to a house and fall in love with it.

She continues, “It may be an attractive option to wave the home inspection because you want your offer to look better than the competition.  But, if you really do not know what you are buying, you could inherit unforeseen issues leaving you with buyer’s remorse or worse.”

Dave adds, “Home inspectors are risk managers for REALTORS®. When you remove the inspector from the equation, the liability risk defaults directly to the agent and broker.”

“Jill and I pour every bit of our hearts and souls into Homesight Inspections,” says Dave. “It is our passion. Of course, our hard work and diligence created a solid base for our business. But the support and following of many outstanding REALTORS® and the hard work of our fantastic team have helped us turn Homesight into what it is today.”
