AMY KAREGEANNES & ROBIN POLZIN SHOREWEST REALTORS
DEEP ROOTS, SHARED VALUES
In the city of Racine, where the lake breeze meets a community built on decades of history, Amy Karegeannes and Robin Polzin represent more than just real estate expertise. They represent a combined forty years of local knowledge, deep-seated family legacies, and a shared philosophy that the "Golden Rule" is the only way to do business. Though both began their careers as individual agents at Shorewest Realtors, their parallel journeys, and two decades working side by side in the same office, have created a unique synergy that defines the modern real estate experience in Racine.
For Amy and Robin, real estate was never just about the houses; it was about the people inside them. Both women were born and raised in Racine, attending local schools and raising their own families in the same neighborhoods they now serve. This lifelong connection to the area provides them with a unique perspective—one where every street corner and school district carries a personal memory.
Legacies of Leadership and Service
Amy Karegeannes’ path into the industry was paved by a significant local figure: her father, Jim Smith, who served two terms as the Mayor of Racine. Before entering real estate in 2003, Amy worked for Governor Tommy Thompson, but it was the decade she spent as a real estate partner with her father that truly shaped her professional identity.
“My dad was the Mayor of Racine for many years and I was real estate partners with him for 10 years,” Amy shares. “He passed away recently, so I cherish those memories when we worked together.”
This foundation of public service and community leadership transitioned naturally into real estate. For Amy, the goal was always about impact. “The most fulfilling part of being a Realtor is the relationships you build,” she explains. “Meeting people from all walks of life and all stages of life. Everyone has a unique story and I love getting to know their stories and make a positive impact!”
Robin Polzin’s journey followed a similar trajectory of discipline and local engagement. Before entering the real estate world in 2006, Robin spent years in the banking industry, a career she started in high school and continued through her time at Carthage College. This background instilled in her the focus and determination required to succeed in a demanding market.
“Having started working at an early age I feel has instilled a strong work ethic,” Robin notes. “Being a realtor takes focus, determination, and discipline.”
A Partnership of Strengths
While both women initially sought the flexibility of real estate to balance raising their children, they quickly discovered that the profession demanded much more. Over the years, they found they share the same drive and have become each other’s trusted go-to for both business and life.
Their working relationship has also grown into a close friendship, from dinners and shopping trips to celebrating family milestones together.
Their approach is built on the idea that the transaction is only the beginning. Robin emphasizes the importance of listening and being a constant presence for her clients. “I truly enjoy helping people on all levels throughout the transaction,” Robin says. “I believe we need to listen to the clients and figure out what they need and always show up for them.”
Amy echoes this sentiment, viewing her role as more of a guide than a salesperson. “I don't look at real estate as simply a transaction,” she says. “I am honored to help people in an impactful, meaningful way.”
They also support each other behind the scenes, stepping in when one is busy or traveling, and when they collaborate on deals, their shared commitment helps ensure a smooth path to closing.
Robin also believes that success is found through collaboration across the industry. “I also think it is important to respect the other agent in the transaction,” she adds. “Getting along with the competition and keeping it friendly leads to a successful transaction.”
Building the Future Together
As they look toward 2026, both Amy and Robin remain deeply involved in giving back to the community that raised them. Through Shorewest Realtors, they support local initiatives like Empty Bowls, Relay for Life, and Santa in a Shoe Box.
Whether they are navigating the complexities of an inspection or helping a family find their first home, their guiding principle remains simple. For Amy, it’s a rule she’s passed down to her daughters: “You would never regret being nice. Treat others how you'd like to be treated!”
Robin views the future as an ongoing opportunity for growth. “I believe you are never too old to learn something new,” she says. “Keep moving on all levels—mentally and physically.”
Together, Amy and Robin continue to serve Racine not just as agents, but as neighbors who understand that in real estate, the relationship shouldn't end when the closing does.
