KAITLYN SHEPHERD

Built on Relationships

For Kaitlyn Shepherd, real estate was never just about houses. From the beginning, it was about people.

Born and raised in New Berlin, Wisconsin, Kaitlyn grew up surrounded by the values that continue to guide her today: hard work, loyalty, family, and showing up for others. Her close-knit upbringing shaped the way she approaches both life and her career, creating a foundation built on relationships and community.

“Family has always been at the center of my life,” Kaitlyn shares. “Some of my favorite memories are the traditions we've built together over the years.”

An outgoing and social person by nature, Kaitlyn has always gravitated toward connection. Whether attending a country concert, spending time at a community event, or enjoying a weekend on the lake, she prefers being surrounded by people and creating memories.

After graduating from Eisenhower High School in New Berlin, Kaitlyn earned her real estate license the summer after graduation in 2021. It was a decision that came after seriously considering a very different career path: heavy equipment operation.

Growing up around construction, Kaitlyn spent countless hours alongside her dad, riding in equipment and helping him snowplow during Wisconsin winters. She loved the work, but eventually realized what she valued most was not the machinery—it was the relationships.

“As much as I enjoyed the machines, I realized I loved working with people even more,” she explains. “I knew I would miss the conversations, relationships, and opportunity to make a difference in someone's life if I spent my days alone in a piece of equipment.”

Real estate became the perfect balance. It allowed Kaitlyn to solve problems, build connections, and remain connected to the hardworking blue-collar values she was raised with.

Before entering real estate, Kaitlyn’s first job began at age 15 as a receptionist at a salon near her home. What started as an after-school position became a place where she developed personally and professionally, staying through high school and for six months after earning her license.

Today, Kaitlyn serves clients throughout the Greater Milwaukee area with Real Broker LLC. She also works alongside her mom through Shepherd Realty Partners, combining their strengths to support the families they serve. In addition, she serves as Vice Chair of the Greater Milwaukee Association of REALTORS® Young Professionals Network, helping organize educational opportunities, networking events, and community initiatives.

Kaitlyn’s early years in real estate required determination. Entering the industry at 18, she had ambition but limited business experience. She quickly learned that earning a license was only the beginning.

“The classes taught me how to write contracts and stay compliant—they didn't teach me how to generate leads, market myself, build relationships, or navigate rejection,” she says.

Through consistency, mentorship, and a commitment to serving others, Kaitlyn built a successful business. At just 22 years old and four years into her career, she was ranked among the Top 500 agents in her market.

For Kaitlyn, success has never been measured only by transactions or awards. It is measured by the impact she has on the people she serves.

“The most fulfilling part of my work has very little to do with real estate itself and everything to do with the people,” she shares.

Her approach extends far beyond contracts and negotiations. Kaitlyn helps clients coordinate the many details involved in moving, including connecting them with contractors, cleaners, movers, and other trusted resources. She believes her role is to make the process feel manageable and provide support through every step.

Outside of work, Kaitlyn stays connected to the Wisconsin lifestyle she loves. Summers are spent boating, fishing, golfing, camping, and enjoying time at her grandpa’s quarry in Germantown. Winters bring snowmobiling adventures with family and friends. She also enjoys country concerts, local shows, board games, cooking with her boyfriend Sam, and creating experiences with the people closest to her.

Giving back remains an important part of Kaitlyn’s life. Through her involvement with the Greater Milwaukee Association of REALTORS® Young Professionals Network, she helps support the Milwaukee Homeless Veterans Initiative through fundraisers, food drives, and community efforts. She also coordinates donations from clients transitioning into senior living, helping provide household items to veterans starting new chapters.

Looking ahead, Kaitlyn hopes to continue building a referral-based business centered on trust and lasting relationships.

“I don't believe my job is simply to sell a house—I believe my job is to solve problems and make what can be an overwhelming process feel manageable,” she says.

For Kaitlyn, real estate is ultimately about one thing: making people feel cared for. Her Wisconsin roots, commitment to service, and belief in the power of relationships continue to shape the career she is building.
