Building a Legacy With Purpose

Angel Parfait remembers being a quiet, reserved child growing up on the WestBank of New Orleans, surrounded by the constant energy of her big family. “I come from a really big family; 3 brothers, 4 sisters and too many nieces and nephews to count!” she says. That family has been her foundation — their support a constant thread throughout her life and career.

It wasn’t until Angel entered the world of real estate that she says she truly found her voice. “As a child I was always very shy. It wasn’t until I got into real estate that I broke out of my shell. This profession really helped me to grow into my purpose.”

Before real estate, Angel worked in bookkeeping and accounting — a field that seemed practical but ultimately lacked the deeper fulfillment she was looking for. “I studied accounting and soon realized that I was created for more.”

She got her license in 2004 and hasn’t looked back. Today, Angel is the Owner, Broker, and Realtor at WayMaker Realty, where she leads a team of 15 agents. She’s been a broker for five years and has spent over two decades in the industry — a journey marked by perseverance, purpose, and mentorship.

“For a broker, there are few greater rewards than witnessing new agents come on board, grow under my leadership, and eventually become top producers,” Angel explains. “It’s more than just business, it’s a deeply fulfilling journey of mentorship, guidance, and shared success.”

That mentorship extends to both new and seasoned agents alike. “Watching them reach new heights whether through increased production, leadership roles, or personal breakthroughs further affirms the brokerage’s mission of creating an environment where agents at every level can thrive.”

Her own path into the industry was unplanned. “Burnt out from the corporate grind and craving something more fulfilling, I unexpectedly stumbled upon my desire to become a real estate agent while touring an investment property.” That moment sparked a complete shift. “What started as a simple interest quickly became a calling... turning what once felt like stagnation into a journey of growth and opportunity.”

That journey hasn’t been hers alone. Angel is a proud mother of two daughters — Macie and Madalyn — and says they remain her greatest motivation. “As a single mother, they’ve witnessed my struggles, my resilience through hardships, and my moments of both failure and triumph... I’m not just building a real estate business, I’m building a legacy.”

Macie is currently working in property management, while Madalyn is in her senior year at LSU studying marketing. Angel hopes that one day they’ll both be licensed and working by her side.

Real estate has given Angel the life she once only imagined — not just in terms of financial freedom and professional growth, but also the chance to help others. “The joy that comes from my career is truly the award for pursuing my purpose,” she says.

That purpose extends to her community. She’s the 2025 President-Elect of the Women’s Council of REALTORS® and has coordinated Habitat for Humanity team projects — with more on the horizon.

Even with accolades like Rookie of the Year, New Orleans Real Producers Top 500 for four consecutive years, and leading the Top Producing Brokerage for residential sales on the WestBank of Jefferson Parish in January 2023, Angel says her biggest reward is simpler. “Helping clients overcome challenging obstacles to obtain their real estate dreams.” Her dedication and passion for growth has led her to being selected to participate in the 2025 NOMAR Leadership Academy.

She sums up her business philosophy this way: “I believe that having a purpose-driven business is what truly sets me apart. Having a faith-filled attitude is contagious. When my clients start to worry or feel anxious, I’m there to guide them back into a positive mindset.”

Looking ahead to 2025, her goals are centered not just on numbers, but on nurturing her team’s growth: “A business goal for 2025 is to assist my agents in breaking new sales records.”

Her message to new agents is equally focused: “Choosing a brokerage that offers a hands-on, accessible broker and a strong support team is vital in achieving top producer status.”

Asked to share the one rule she wishes the world would follow, Angel’s answer is simple: “To be kind.”

For Angel, kindness, faith, and purpose are more than ideals — they’re the foundation of the legacy she’s building every day.
