Finding the Right Fit

You know what it’s like when things just feel right? Like when that family you’ve been working with gets the feeling this is the one... this could be their new home.

Erin Higgins shares that feeling. In fact, it’s one of the elements of her work that drives her.

As a REALTOR® with Snap Realty, Erin cherishes having the responsibility of helping her clients find their homes with thoughtful compassion and consideration.

“My mission isn’t about making the sale. It’s about helping people find the right fit at the right time. It’s about how my clients are feeling throughout the process,” Erin points out.

“My main objective is to make sure that my clients feel heard, supported, and guided throughout the entire process.”

Making Moves in Life
Erin relocated from Philadelphia to New Orleans around 10 years ago.

“My husband and I came here to experience a new place and only meant to be here a year or so. However, we absolutely fell in love with the city, culture, and people and decided to stay,” she says with a smile.

Before acquiring her real estate license in 2019, Erin spent 12 years in the hospitality industry. Graduating with a pastry degree from the Culinary Institute of America, she found herself working in several kitchens throughout the city.

Recipe for Success
While she enjoyed her time on the restaurant scene, in time, she felt it was time to take a new path.

“Professionally, I felt like I was hitting a glass ceiling and wanted to do something that would challenge me. I really didn’t plan to end up in real estate, but I’m sure glad I did,” she remembers.

“While searching for a new job, I went in for an administrative position at a real estate office. Kara Breithaupt, broker and owner of Snap Realty, was interviewing me, and at the end of the interview, she said she couldn’t give me the job because she didn’t think it would suit me. Instead, she thought I would make a great agent and kindly took a chance on me. She sponsored my license and provided me tons of shadowing and resources to be set up for success. I remember her saying, ‘If you trust me, I guarantee you will be successful. Just give me a couple months.’ And, she was right, Kara has been an amazing mentor for me.”

Driven to Make a Difference
Erin sees tangible parallels between her time as a pastry chef and her current role in real estate.
“I was working 70 hours in a kitchen. I have the drive to be successful and have always had an attention for details. That attention to detail is key to be successful in both career paths,” Erin says.

Building Strong Bonds
One of the benefits Erin sees in her current role as a REALTOR® is the direct and ever-new set of relationships she builds with those around her.

“The people I get to meet make this a very rewarding role for me ... from clients and their families to the agents I get to work along side not to mention inspectors, contractors, title attorneys... You meet so many different walks of life and get to be part of that journey,” Erin says. “It’s very rewarding. I’m always learning something new every day.”

Once she began her journey in the business, Erin spared little time in making her impact felt in the community. In fact, within four weeks of earning her license, she had her first property under contract.

Rewarding Life
Away from work, Erin’s world is made much richer by her family, including her husband, Adam, and her dog, Jazzy.

“We love to travel. Visiting family and friends around the country. We both grew up in the hospitality field and like exploring restaurants, shows, and bars. My husband also loves to bring me fishing, which allows us to get out of the city a bit and explore different parts of Louisiana.”

Leading Forward
As Erin considers her own path forward, she reflects back on the successes she has already created for her clients and their families. She also shares her advice for others who are getting their own feet beneath them in the business.

“As I got my start, one of the most important things I remember doing is I would surround myself with people in the office so I could absorb everything I could,” she recalls.

“I think that’s a big thing... familiarizing yourself with all the aspects of real estate you can and leaning on your mentors and peers for that knowledge. These are high stakes, so you want to make sure that you are asking the right questions to provide clients with the best and most accurate information. It shows your ability to make sure you are providing the right answers at the right time. I always like to think of my own experience buying a house and then do my best to provide that same experience to them.”

Congratulations to Erin Higgins for giving her all in finding the right fit for her clients in the community that she and her husband love being able to call home.
