40 Under 40: Recognizing Young Achievers

AJ Lall
Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty
Age: 38 | Years in RE: 8 | 2022 Sales: $21,000,000

With eight years of experience under his belt, AJ Lall quickly became a top performer in his brokerage at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty.

Before getting into real estate, AJ worked in the cybersecurity and intelligence field as a government contractor. However, he had always been fascinated by real estate and had a strong desire to educate and guide consumers through the largest purchase of their lifetime.

AJ says his biggest challenge was learning time management, a hurdle many real estate agents face. He found himself running out the door whenever a client wanted to see a house, neglecting important activities such as making calls and following up with other clients. However, he now overcomes this challenge by time-blocking his day, leading to an improvement in productivity and quality of life.

As a real estate agent, he enjoys seeing the look on his client's faces when they find the house they love. AJ's attentiveness, ability to read body language, and being a good listener set him apart from other agents.

Success, to AJ, means having the freedom of time and being able to do things he enjoys outside of real estate. The biggest game-changer for AJ in his business is outsourcing activities that are not income-producing, but still essential for the growth of his business.

One of AJ's biggest aspirations is to have the freedom of time and not worry financially. He has dreams of traveling more and owning homes in Florida, NYC, and Costa Rica.

Over the next year, AJ's professional goals include educating consumers on how real estate is still a safe investment, even though rates are higher than last year. He also aims to add a buyer's agent to his team. On a personal level, he wants to get into the best health he has ever been and travel more than he has in the last three years combined.

DANNY LEE
Samson Properties
Age: 37 | Years in RE: 10 | 2022 Sales: $16,071,285

Danny Lee has always been interested in real estate, so when he found out that getting a license was just a 60-hour class and a test, he signed up with one of his roommates. A decade later, Danny is still in the business and working as a part of The K Group, a team at Samson Properties.

Danny worked as a patent examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office. However, he felt unfulfilled reading and writing at a desk alone, and wanted to use his skills to serve others.

As an agent, Danny enjoys guiding clients through the biggest financial transaction of their lives, learning and problem-solving constantly. His grit and perseverance sets him apart from others, as he says he isn't a naturally gifted salesman. To Danny, success means creating positive relationships with people and serving them well. He believes that everyone has the ability to connect with others in their own unique way.

Danny has faced many challenges in his life, including going through the Marine Corps Officer Candidates School. He learned that he was capable of more than he thought, constantly being pushed beyond his perceived limits.

Danny has big dreams, such as visiting every national park with his family, traveling internationally to expand his kids' perspectives, and eventually going to Hawaii yearly.

Social media has been a game changer for Danny's business. After overcoming his initial fear of putting himself out there, he was able to connect with more people and let them know he was a real estate agent.

Danny's goals for the next year are to balance his work and family life, be more present for his wife and kids, and learn to manage his business more efficiently.
