Norma Pine | Pine & Beckett

Leading the Way at Pine & Beckett REALTORS®

“I was fortunate enough to find my calling early in life,” says Norma Pine. “It was by accident, but I found it,” she smiles.

Norma got into real estate 45 years ago. She shares, “My husband at the time was in the oil business and transferred every 18 months. We would call a REALTOR® to our house.” After the second or third time, Norma became intrigued by the process. However, she didn’t understand all the terminology used and was eager to learn more.

“I took real estate classes to understand the process and feel more comfortable when asking questions,” she explains. “We were moving so much that real estate piqued my interest.”

Norma got her real estate license at a junior college in Wharton, Texas before going to work for a very successful broker. “She reigned in my ambition until she felt that I had the knowledge to move forward successfully, then challenged me to go beyond my comfort zone,” she admits. Little did she know that she would appreciate the discipline that she acquired through this experience.

Norma, who has a career volume topping 650 million dollars, feels fortunate to have worked in residential and commercial real estate. “I also have invested in real estate,” she adds, “and I am very well versed on the lending side.” All of her experience was instrumental in shaping who she is today.

Norma’s Background

Norma credits her background for helping her become who she is today.

“I grew up in a small town in South Texas. My Dad was a builder and had a small building company.  I was surrounded by my father’s building company and his company's work ethics every day after school until dinner.” Norma, who was only 9 years old at the time, loved building because her Dad loved it. “It was ingrained in me fairly young.”

When she was little, she never played with dolls. Instead, Norma was interested in selling things. “My friends and I would take my mother’s old sheets in the summer, get under a little tree, and pretend that we were selling little rocks.” Her drive to be an entrepreneur was evident at a young age.

Fast forward to today and Norma continues to have the drive to sell while running an award-winning boutique-style firm.

Overcoming Obstacles

Starting real estate 45 years ago wasn’t an easy task. A single parent, Norma was determined to make it and made “fearless decisions.” She lived through the financial challenges of Midland when people’s houses were taken over by the bank. Engineers were sacking groceries. Banks hired Norma to sell their REO inventory and short sales from 1981-1988.

Seeing the adversity that grown men encountered was overwhelming, especially when forced to sell their homes. Often they were in tears when they met with Norma. Tempted to quit, her husband David told her to pretend she was a duck, and the problems would roll off of her back.

“It got me through,” she says. “Those were some of the darkest times in Midland’s history.”

Norma continued to persevere and found that the road got easier.

Mentoring Agents

Now Norma is an inspiration to other agents, mentoring them and helping them feel professionally secure. She comments, “I do mentor the agents in my office with their finances. A lot of REALTORS® are very successful, but neglect their finances. I try to help them with that. I like them to have the opportunity to have a better life. All they have to do is ask for help and I’m there for them.” After all, Norma is training future leaders today.

Fortunate for Family

When Norma isn’t working, she treasures time with her family. She is married to David Pine, who is the love of her life. They are blessed with two sons, Chris Beckett and David Allen Pine, and three gorgeous grandchildren.

“A lot of people don’t realize that Chris is my son,” says Norma. Norma (Broker-Owner) and Chris (Broker Associate) lead Pine & Beckett REALTORS®. “We have nurtured it to be the best real estate company in Midland.” They have created the culture and environment for agents to excel into Top Producers with continued education and doing things differently. They are passionate about what they do. In total, they have 40 REALTORS® and 8 Brokers. Pine & Beckett represents the past and the future of real estate in Midland, Texas.

In her free time, Norma enjoys working in the yard and spending time with her little dog, “Little Lily,” whom she is madly in love with. A self-described super private individual, Norma does love to groove to Country Western music. “I love Willie Nelson music,” she raves.

A Wonderful Life

“I’ve always wanted a better life and found that real estate was my calling,” concludes Norma.

“They say life happens when you are making other plans.” That’s what happened to her and this Top Producer wouldn’t have it any other way.
