Steve Gregory

The Goal Getter

If you want to see what a winner can do, challenge them. Tell them they can’t do it. Then step out of the way and watch them take it on and succeed.

For those who know him, Steve Gregory is the goal getter. As a REALTOR® with River Point Realty, Steve has a remarkable record of winning in any walk of life that he takes on. His competitive edge was built and honed at a young age, being born and raised in the inner city.

“I loved playing out on the front street with friends … playing street hockey and basketball under the lights. It was the foundation piece to my childhood,” Steve remembers. “But it’s gone on from there. I’m still extremely close to my friends from that time. It really was the foundation. All of the good stuff that makes me who I am came from that time, and the memories I still hold dear to me to this day.”

Today, Steve is one of the rising real estate stars in the region. But that’s just the latest winning spot he has played. Through much of his life, he has been known for his grit, talent, and heart as a standout hockey player. From the time he was three years old, Gregory was in the game. First it was in the church gym, then on his front street, and then onto his days traveling around the world internationally.

“Hockey has molded me to be the competitor that I am. I have many memories of being in a car driving to a hockey tournament on the weekends,” Steve reminisces. “We used to drive to Boston, Philly, and Buffalo, and now we are flying everywhere. Hockey has given me the chance to see the world while growing up and learning how to become an adult.”

Steve played his way onto the 2008 Junior USA team, then he went on to make the men’s team in 2009 as the youngest player at the time to ever do so. He has competed in the men’s international competition that takes place every two years ever since … competing in places like Slovakia, Vancouver, Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic, and Montreal.

He’s had many shining moments, but one was extra special. “It was in 2009 during my first year at the men’s level, when I scored the game-winning goal in overtime to send us to the medal round,” he remembers with a smile. That goal was extra special as Steve’s shot sent Team Canada out of medal contention, for the first time in the history of the ISBHF-sanctioned international tournament. As a result, the mayor of Pittsburgh proclaimed Tuesday, June 30, 2009 as Steve Gregory Day.

Fast forward, Steve’s start in the real estate game came right after he bought his own house. Despite initially starting a career in radio, he was ready for a change. “When I bought my house, John, a good friend of mine, suggested real estate to me. He mentioned that I could do it part-time,” Steve remembers. “But I’m not that kind of person, I jump in, and I do it with both feet. John ended up sponsoring me to get my license. Once I passed, I quit my job and did real estate full-time. I thought to myself this is either going to work or it’s not … so let’s make it work.”

Steve started with Keller Williams. After a time there, he had the opportunity to work with the President of River Point Realty. They talked, hit it off, and Steve quickly moved to join the team. “River Point Realty is a great fit for me. We are truly like family … we’re brothers and sisters,” he smiles. “I’m very happy to be here. What he has done for me has catapulted my career. I couldn’t do it without guys like him and my other co-workers. Success is contagious and should be shared, and that’s what we have here.”

In the last six years in the business, Steve has developed a strong passion for what he does. “I absolutely love working with first-time buyers because of the rollercoaster of emotions through the process. I love calling a client and telling them that they won the bid and hearing them lose it with excitement. That’s my favorite part about it. I absolutely was meant to do this. I get so much enjoyment out of helping people and helping someone start the next chapter of their lives.”

Away from work, Steve stays active. He enjoys spending time with his Chocolate Labrador, Copper, and his two cats, Leo and Jackson. He likes working out at the gym every day, is drawn to sports of all kinds, and enjoys the great outdoors. He also has a love and passion for music, and can often be found with some sort of playlist in the background of his day-to-day activities.

“I’m an all-or-nothing guy,” Steve smiles. Truly, Steve Gregory gives his all to help those around them win in their own lives … as a tireless goal getter.
