New City Team

Building Connections and Guiding Dreams

In the bustling Pittsburgh real estate market, the New City team is redefining the way people perceive the industry. Led by three exceptional individuals - Kathy Wallace, Laura Kingsbury, and Jordann Friedman - they embody expertise, integrity, and a deep commitment to customer service. They have created a brand synonymous with trust and guidance, helping clients navigate the complex world of real estate.

Pittsburgh native Kathy Wallace boasts over 25 years of real estate experience. Her journey has been shaped by adaptive reuse of existing buildings and new construction where she finds fulfillment in transforming spaces and creating vibrant communities. Her background in social psychology, along with her experience as an Early Responder at Ground Zero in New York City have been invaluable assets in her career.

Laura Kingsbury, born north of Pittsburgh, has a deep appreciation for the city's friendly, affordable, and vibrant atmosphere. Her journey began in 2010 at a boutique real estate firm in Massachusetts, before eventually returning to Pittsburgh. Laura's diverse experience, from her journalism degree to real estate administration, has provided her with a comprehensive understanding of the industry. “The skill set brings a wealth of knowledge about how to effectively communicate and market our properties,” Laura admits. “I resisted a "sales" job, I don't want to "sell" to people, I want to guide them in important life decisions and get to know them.”

Jordann Friedman, born in Harrisburg, found her true home in Pittsburgh while attending the University of Pittsburgh for Mass Communications and Marketing. Her background in social services combined with her guidance-oriented approach have defined her successful 20+ year real estate career. “While my educational background and work experience have informed my career, real estate has been a familial business. My parents owned and operated a brokerage in Harrisburg way back.

When reflecting on her path, Kathy offers valuable advice to her younger self: "Don't attempt to do it all, and choose your support team carefully." Outside of work, Kathy dedicates her time and resources to multiple arts and charitable organizations. She is also the founder of a homeless charity, demonstrating her commitment to making a positive impact in her community. Family plays a central role in Kathy's life, and she cherishes moments spent with her husband, children, grandchildren.

For Laura, the freedom of being a business owner and also being able to enjoy the pivotal moments in her personal life, including travel, marriage, and her recent journey as a foster parent, have been transformative.

Laura credits Kathy as a mentor and friend, whose guidance has shaped her professional growth. Laura's wife provides unwavering support, understanding the demands of a career with unpredictable schedules. Outside of work, Laura actively supports Every Child Inc. and LGBTQIA organizations.

For Jordann, in her free time, she supports Habitat for Humanity and various Pittsburgh-based organizations. She enjoys gardening, cooking, spending time with friends and family, and traveling with her husband, Jay, and their two children. One piece of advice Jordann offers to new agents is to focus on exceptional customer service rather than specific monetary goals, and “Never say “it’s sold” before you close. There are so many (often unforeseen) ways for a transaction to implode - stay vigilant and thorough throughout the entire process.”

The New City team is also supported by agents Freada Jaffe, Sarah Orbin, Richard Brown, and Ziad Adamo. Combined, they add over three decades of experience to the team.

Freada uses her 20 years of real estate experience and education background to shape her business practices and serves as a wealth of information for her clients. Freada is the proud mother of three daughters and just celebrated her 32nd wedding anniversary with husband.

Sarah brings nine years of real estate experience, specializing in working with buyers and priding herself in assisting her clients in making well informed decisions. She and her family are avid animal enthusiasts and enjoy spending time exploring outdoors.

Richard, Head of Operations and REALTOR®,  has vast experience in team building having helped significantly to build Compass’ Pittsburgh presence. Rich has over a decade of experience in operations and sales leadership, and he previously served with the United States Navy.

Ziad has top-notch business acumen and community involvement, proven through his decade-long ownership of the famous Middle Eastern restaurant Ali Baba. His ability to speak Arabic and English makes him a great addition to the team.

The New City team’s commitment to collaboration and fostering a supportive environment ensures every client receives the highest level of service and expertise. By building a business with good values and prioritizing client satisfaction, success becomes a natural byproduct.
