A Hands On Approach: This Real Estate Superstar Makes Each Sale Personal

After spending 11 years in the corporate world, MaryBeth shifted gears to pursue a career as a real estate agent, driven by her passion for helping people find their perfect living space.

"I’ve always been interested in real estate—everything from architecture to interior design—and that has always drawn me to the business," she says. “But especially—if you're not happy in your living situation, whether you can even fully articulate it or understand it, it really impacts you. I've always liked to try to help people solve that problem by finding a place that they really love. I want people to feel settled.”

Her background in corporate sales and negotiations laid a solid foundation for her real estate career. Before transitioning, she negotiated contracts for Northwest Airlines and sold commercial markets for AT&T, and those jobs honed her ability to understand clients' needs and goals.

"I learned how to really listen to my clients, understand their problems, and find solutions," explains MaryBeth, a Real Producer out of the William Raveis office in Duxbury. "That’s the same skill set I use now to help buyers and sellers navigate their real estate journeys."

Despite the flexibility many expect from a real estate career, MaryBeth quickly learned that real estate offers anything but. "There’s nothing flexible about real estate except for the agents," she laughs. "You’re always on call, always working around other people’s schedules. But I love it. It’s challenging and rewarding." Her relentless drive has made her a standout in a competitive market, and she continues to grow her business by focusing on the personal touch that her corporate background prepared her to provide.

MaryBeth’s approach is hands-on and detail-oriented. "When I host an open house, I make BLTs for the guests," she says. It’s part of the experience she offers to make her listings feel like home. "It’s the little things that make a big difference."

Her personal touch doesn’t stop with open houses; she goes above and beyond to help clients stage their homes, offering advice on how to maximize their home’s value with simple changes.

"Homes are people’s number one investment, and I love helping them make the most out of it," she shares. She often helps clients by suggesting improvements and ensuring their homes are ready for market. "When people trust you and listen to your advice, things go smoothly, and everyone’s happy in the end."

Her first year in real estate was a blur, only taking off six weeks surrounding the birth of her first child—she managed to close over $9 million in sales, a feat that set the tone for her future success. "I was terrified of not making money, so I just worked relentlessly," MaryBeth recalls. Her work ethic paid off—she’s since earned over $200 million in sales, with last year alone bringing in $17 million.

What keeps MaryBeth going is her genuine care for her clients. "Real estate is all about making people feel at ease in their living space," she explains. "It’s not just about the sale; it’s about helping people feel comfortable and happy where they live." Whether it’s offering advice on how to prepare a home for sale or helping clients find a new place that fits their needs, MaryBeth thrives on the relationships she builds.

Outside of real estate, MaryBeth enjoys walking, bike riding, and spending time with her two grown children. She also stays active on social media, sharing “Scenes from My Stroll” and "Scenes from the Saddle"—photos from her daily walks and bike rides. "I love the beauty of New England, and I love sharing it with people, especially those who might not live here anymore but still have a connection to the area," she says.

Though she’s well-established in the industry, MaryBeth continues to take a personal, hands-on approach that has shaped her success. "I love this business because every day is different," she says. "I get to help people, solve problems, and make a real difference in their lives." For MaryBeth, real estate is more than a job—it’s a way of life.
