Margaret Rogers

When it comes to working under pressure, real estate agent Margaret Rogers makes diamonds.

Margaret, 40, a Compass agent based in Duxbury, started her professional real estate career in 2021 during the height of the pandemic. After earning a degree in communications from Stonehill College, she started her career working an IT job, but eventually discovered she had ambitions that would inspire her to explore the next phase of her success - real estate.

Today, Margaret focuses on helping clients anywhere from suburban, colonial homes in Quincy all the way down to the luxury vacation properties in Cape Cod. With extensive professional knowledge of the South Shore, Margaret says, “What makes the South Shore great is the serene coastal living, plus convenient amenities that allow for full time residences.”

For Margaret, helping a family or client find their perfect home is much more than the architectural appearance of the property - it’s guiding them on the personality of the area she’s working with, as well. “The city of Quincy is a short 15 minute commute to southie, but there are multiple suburban neighborhoods, steps from the beach.  There are state of the art medical facilities in Weymouth and Plymouth, the commuter ferry and commercial shopping in Hingham.  Cohasset village is straight out of a movie, and Norwell’s iconic stonewalls, and estate-like properties are great for multi-generational living or work from households.  Duxbury and Scituate are more rural beach communities, but nothing shuts down in the winter, like Cape Cod.”

She describes the appeal of her role in real estate as being more independence-oriented, not having a boss to give her direction. Margaret views her independence as a driving force in her unrelenting commitment toward her pursuit of success. Her passion in the industry, as well as an incentive to achieve her goals, has led to personal fulfillment.

“It's definitely a career based on knowledge and experience,” she says. “Deal to deal, I’ve learned so much. In order to be a successful agent, I’ve learned surrounding yourself with groups of vendors, attorneys, and other agents that will support you is pivotal and uplifting.”

Margaret displays a strong sense of determination towards her career, while also balancing four young daughters at home, ages 2-7 years old. She credits her husband and children as being a source of motivation toward excellence, through their love and support. Margaret describes her husband’s support as being “a rock-solid mentor” through her real estate journey.

“Being both a parent and a real estate agent means networking is a big part of understanding our local area and learning about town dynamics through experience,” she says, “whether through family, friends, or my children’s school and extracurriculars.”

Margaret recalls one recent impactful memory while working with a client, a single mom, and her teenage daughter, in Plymouth as buyers.  Her client worked tirelessly to get everything together for the purchase, which would be her sole financial obligation. Although there was a sense of challenge, the client never did it alone.

Margaret says that watching their family’s generations of women support each other through making their decision and becoming involved made the process immensely inspiring.  “Buying a home is a big decision and can be the core of your life,” she says. “This means I organically get to know my clients on a deeper level.”

For Margaret, commitment and perseverance is the journey–and every goal achieved is the destination.
