Berry Home Inspections

Purchasing a home, whether established or a new build, is one of the most important decisions many people make. Buyers work hard for their money and want to make sure they are making a sound investment in a quality property. A reliable, experienced home inspector can help ensure that the property’s exterior and visible interior is in good condition as well as identify necessary repairs.

After spending over 25 years in the construction field, Scott Berry of Berry Home Inspections, LLC wanted to shift into a new role. “I just wanted a change, so I started looking for something different in the construction world,” says Scott. At a friend’s suggestion, he began working in home inspections, ultimately stepping away from construction work and doing inspections full time. “I love providing home inspections,” he says. “I like helping people and giving them peace of mind about their purchase by helping them know what they’re getting into.”

With a degree in Industrial Technology, Scott started out doing construction in the summers while teaching high school p.e. and coaching a boys’ basketball team. Eventually, he went into construction full time doing general handyman repairs along with new and old construction. Now, his business offers home and home maintenance inspections as well as termite and radon inspections to clients within an hour radius of Springfield, including Branson.

“We want to make sure the exterior and visible interior of your home are in top-notch condition,” says Berry. “We start on the roof, around the exterior, and in the crawl space. Then we take a look at the attic and interior, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing – anything we can physically see.” Scott then shares his findings with the buyers or their real estate agent and carefully explains what, if any, repairs should be done.

“A common problem we see is with moisture from missing vapor barriers or leaking pipes in crawl spaces or other areas. Even new homes can have mold. Fortunately, mold is easier to fix and prevent than it used to be,” says Scott. “Another common issue is exterior repairs that have been put off and now require attention. Of course, unrepaired weather damage from wind and hail is something we find, too.”

When you choose Berry Home Inspections, you will be benefiting from an inspector with a construction background that gives him the edge. “I’ve seen it all, and I know what to look for,” says Scott. “My job is to provide accurate, reliable, and detailed property inspection reports both homebuyers and sellers can fully trust. Once I have a thorough and accurate report, I don’t scare people with the results. I take the time to review the damage and explain how it would get fixed,” says Berry. “My job is to give them peace of mind.”

If you’re considering selling your home or just want to keep your home in top condition and wonder if there is damage you don’t know about, you can also benefit from a home maintenance inspection from Berry Home Inspections. There may be storm damage you’re unaware of or areas that need resealed, repaired, or replaced. This could save homeowners a lot of money in the long run by preventing the damage from spreading to other areas of the home.
