JULIE HAEFNER

Growth with Purpose

Growing up in Chesterfield, Julie Haefner developed an early appreciation for the sense of belonging that comes with deep local roots. After earning a business degree in marketing from Saint Louis University and spending seven years in Dallas, the pull of home brought her back to the St. Louis area. For the past 27 years, she has called Wildwood home—the place where she raised her three children and built a life centered around community and connection.

For two decades, Julie was a familiar face in the local wellness scene, teaching group fitness, personal training, and leading yoga classes. It was a career defined by support and encouragement, but as her children entered middle school, she felt the stirring of a new chapter.

“I’ve always loved real estate, design, and marketing,” Julie reflects. “With my business degree, the idea of combining strategy with helping people through major life transitions felt like a natural fit.”

To confirm her instincts, she turned to a unique resource: her brother’s personality profiling company. The results were definitive. “Without hesitation, he told me real estate was a perfect match for my strengths—relationship-driven, strategic, resilient, and results-oriented,” she says. “That confirmation gave me the confidence to leap.”

A Natural Transition
Julie launched her real estate career in 2018 and hit the ground running, earning Rookie of the Year honors in 2019. In the years since, she has consistently ranked in the top 1% of Realtors, a feat she attributes to the discipline she honed during her years in the fitness industry.

“Teaching fitness and yoga throughout St. Louis strengthened my patience, empathy, and ability to motivate and guide people—skills I carry into real estate every day,” Julie explains.

However, her journey hasn’t been without its hurdles. As a three-year breast cancer survivor, Julie navigated a personal battle that profoundly shaped her professional perspective. Today, she mentors other women through the nonprofit Faith Through Fire, bringing that same resilience to her boutique-style business at Compass Realty Group.

“Navigating challenges, including being a breast cancer survivor, gave me resilience, perspective, and a deep appreciation for life,” she shares. “Those experiences taught me to stay calm under pressure, to lead with empathy, and to focus on solutions—all qualities that help me guide my clients through some of the biggest decisions of their lives.”

People Before Property
In a competitive industry, Julie has carved out a niche by operating under a simple but powerful mantra: "People before Property." She views herself as an anchor for clients navigating the emotional intensity of buying or selling a home.

“A home isn’t just a transaction—it represents change, growth, memories, and often a new chapter,” Julie says. “I love bringing clarity and calm to what can feel overwhelming. Seeing the relief and excitement on my clients’ faces at closing never gets old.”

One key to her consistent high-level production—averaging 50 to 60 homes a year—is her partnership with her transaction coordinator, Liz Ward, who is also her sister-in-law. “Liz is the smartest person I know,” Julie says. “She ensures every deal runs smoothly, allowing me to focus on strategy, client care, and negotiation.”

Looking Ahead
As Julie looks toward 2025, her focus is on "growth with purpose." She plans to begin building a small, intentional team to expand her reach while maintaining the personal touch her clients expect.

Whether she is hiking, traveling with her husband, Jim, or mentoring survivors, Julie remains driven by a constructive mindset. An avid traveler with a “work hard, play hard” mentality, she and Jim are always looking ahead to explore new and different destinations together. If she could implement one law for the world, it would be for everyone to focus on positivity and solutions rather than complaints.

“I finally embraced that I was built for this,” she says. “Once I leaned into my strengths—relationship-driven, resilient, strategic—everything shifted.”

FAMILY SPOTLIGHT
Julie and her husband, Jim, have been married for 32 years. They enjoy spending time with their three adult children: Jake (27), Katie (24), and Matthew (21). A fitness enthusiast and passionate traveler, Julie is always planning her next adventure, embracing new experiences and destinations around the world.
