For MaryJo Schaper, success in business isn’t about the sale — it’s about the people. As an Account Executive at Achosa Home Warranty, MaryJo has spent the last 16 years building a career focused on service, education, and helping homeowners prepare for the unexpected.
“I am passionate about educating people on the Achosa difference and helping homeowners prepare for the unexpected costs associated with homeownership,” she explains.
Raised in Missouri’s Jefferson County before finishing high school and college in Lynchburg, Virginia, MaryJo eventually returned to St. Louis to pursue a master’s degree at Lindenwood University. It was during that time, while completing her studies, that the opportunity to work in home warranty came her way — and she saw it as more than just a job.
“This was something God blessed me with,” MaryJo recalls. “I was finishing my master’s and this job found me.”
The company she now represents, Achosa, offers a straightforward yet vital service: protecting homeowners from the financial burdens that come with system or appliance failures due to normal wear and tear. But for MaryJo, it's the way Achosa does business that makes the difference.
“We focus on providing homeowners with the best claims experience in the industry,” she says. Her personal tagline, now synonymous with her approach to the work, is simple and heartfelt: “I Achosa you... You Achosa me!”
That balance between humor and heart is at the center of MaryJo’s professional identity. While many in sales lead with pitch decks and promotions, MaryJo’s strategy is different. “My focus is helping, not selling, and I do what is right for the homeowner,” she says. “Passion, education, and a claims experience that focuses on doing what is best for the homeowner — that’s what sets us apart.”
MaryJo’s ideal clients include real estate agents, insurance professionals, mortgage advisors, and of course, homeowners themselves. But what she’s really seeking is connection — meaningful partnerships rooted in trust and service. “Top producers should have me in their network because I specialize in customer service. I want to educate their clients and make sure they feel protected and informed.”
Those around her have taken notice. MaryJo credits much of her success to the people in her life, especially her husband Shane. “My drive and passion to help others and the support of my husband Shane” have been the biggest reasons for her continued growth, she says.
When asked to define success, MaryJo doesn’t hesitate. “To me, success is defined by helping others and remaining authentic to who I am. Life is shaped by the choices we make, and I find true fulfillment in uplifting those around me, sharing knowledge, and cultivating meaningful connections with others.”
Outside of work, MaryJo and Shane love traveling, catching live music, and rooting for their favorite teams — the Cardinals, Blues, Chiefs, and Mizzou. “We love concerts,” she adds. “And I also enjoy volunteering for charity, playing cards, trivia, or a fun sporting event.”
MaryJo jokes about work-life balance — “There is supposed to be balance? LOL” — but says that her job is so relationship-driven that her work often overlaps with friendships. “I love what I do, so I often get to hang out with my friends at work.”
Looking ahead, MaryJo has clear goals in mind: saving for a trip to Greece, educating homeowners, and introducing Achosa to 35 new agents each month. Through it all, she remains focused on one thing — making a difference.
“I’m driven by a constant desire to learn and grow, with the goal of making a positive impact—not only through home warranty services but in people’s lives.”
As Achosa expands across 29 states, MaryJo is quick to point out that she’s not alone in her mission. “My team is amazing. I have amazing colleagues all over the country.”
That spirit of teamwork, along with her passion for helping others, is what keeps MaryJo grounded — and inspired. “I love my job,” she says simply. “And I love helping others.”
