Building Through Time
Originally from Minnesota, Sam moved to Florida around 15 years ago to attend Florida State University. He went on to earn his master’s degree, as well.
 
After his collegiate career was done, Sam worked in the insurance field for a time with Geico, working as a Litigation Examiner. While he enjoyed the work, he was open to other options, as well. That’s when he had a pivotal conversation with his father.
 
“My father is on the Board of Directors for a regional chain of banks in Minnesota. He talked with me about the idea of becoming a mortgage loan officer. As he explained it to me at the time, the role involved making friends and closing loans,” Sam remembers.
 
“In time, I transitioned out of insurance and went into the mortgage business.”
 
Personal Focus
That move happened about seven years ago. Since then, Sam has enjoyed the difference in the focus of real estate over insurance.
 
“In my prior role, I dealt a lot with catastrophic injuries. It was not an uplifting subject,” he recalls.
 
“Working in real estate is a refreshing shift. I love the relationship component of what we do and helping people get into their homes.”
 
Today, Sam leads a team of several professionals, including seven Loan Officers, two Loan Officer Assistants, an Operations Manager, Processors, and a Transaction Coordinator.
 
Engaging, Customized Approach
As a seasoned mortgage professional and leader, Sam relishes the role of helping his clients have a great deal of say in their transactions.
 
“When people are making a large purchase like a home, they like to be involved in the decision making of choosing the best loan for their financial makeup. I can relieve their stress when they have a good sense of control and understanding of the process,” Sam points out.
 
“As part of that, I customize their options and use a very consultative approach … having them participate in the process. It’s an interactive approach and we work to identify the obstacles at the beginning. This ensures there are no surprises throughout the transaction and their expectations are set for success from the beginning.”
 
Sam is a lifelong learner who challenges himself to continually stay on the leading edge on changing guidelines.
 
As he says, “I am always staying in tune with changes in the mortgage environment, including changes to product guidelines and any legislative changes that impact the market. We will get them to the finish line.”
 
Fulfilling Life
Away from work, Sam enjoys time on the beach and water, spending time on the boat, as well as enjoying travel to new destinations. In addition, he has a passion for sports. In fact, he played a year of collegiate football. He also stays engaged with Radiant Church in South Tampa, and a leadership role in his BNI chapter.
