Brooke Michael of Elite Home Inspections

Solid and Reliable

Brooke Michael’s life has gone down various paths, but looking back, they all led to where she is today. Born and raised in Rockingham County, NC, Brooke went on to study nursing and took up the trade in 1999.

However, changes in the nursing industry made her reconsider the path over the long term.

“The more nursing evolved and changed, I wasn’t getting the same fulfillment from it anymore. Not being able to take the time to bond with patients and give them appropriate care, that’s what drove me toward real estate.”

After getting started in home inspections in 2009, Brooke got her real estate license in 2014 to learn the ins and outs of the process from the agent’s perspective. After separating from her husband and leaving their previous business, Brooke was ready to start up a new venture. Learning about real estate from the agent’s angle was the catalyst to start Elite Home Inspections in 2019.

She partnered with her brother, Ryan Moore, who has 20 years of experience in the electrical industry, to bring the new company to life. Combining her customer service, scheduling, and problem-solving skills with Ryan’s extensive knowledge of home construction gave them a distinct advantage in the industry.

Most importantly, Elite thrives on being a small family-owned business centered on building strong relationships within the local community.

Triad REAL Producers (TRP):  Why should every potential buyer get a home inspection?
Buying a home is the biggest investment anyone is going to make in their life. If you’re buying anything worth something, why skimp on not getting it checked out to make sure you’re making a sound investment with your money? It’s important to make sure what you’re getting is in good shape, whether it needs repairs, and to be aware of any potential issues that could come up in the near future.

You wouldn’t invest in anything else without doing your research first–it’s the same when buying your home.

TRP:  What separates Elite Home Inspections from other home inspection services?
You’re not just getting a business experience with Elite–we build relationships, value our relationships, and prioritize them above everything else. We make sure each inspection is always done how and when our client needs it. Even if it’s not something we’d normally expect with a home inspection, we always make sure all client concerns are addressed on the report.

We’ve also built strong relationships with other vendors, so for any type of inspection my clients need like HVAC companies, well and septic, I can schedule it. Then we bill it all on one invoice and we don’t upcharge for those services either, so it makes the process much easier for the agents we work with.

Finally, there’s no other person that will answer the phone, email, or text other than me. If something is urgent and an agent needs us, we will go above and beyond to make it work out for them.

TRP:  What are your future plans for your business?
My goal is to get us to five home inspectors and continue growing well into the future.

I’d also like to see us grow to the point where we’re educating new agents, doing new agent orientations, and taking them out for home inspections to show them what it’s all about. When those agents then go to show their clients houses, they’ll have better knowledge about the process going in.

When people hear "Elite Home Inspections," they know that we’re solid, reliable, and putting good vibes out into the world. We’re a family-owned business too, so I want to be able to train one of my sons or daughter to carry the business along after my brother and I are done.

TRP:  In your opinion, what’s one of the most important traits for success in this business?
You have to be ready to adapt and change to the market. This is a fluid business that’s ever-changing. At any one moment, everything can fall apart, and you need to be ready to change.

With the way the market is going, you can’t expect marketing techniques to always be as successful as they once were. You need to be out meeting new agents, checking out agent orientations, [attending Triad REAL Producers events]…all of it.

Because if you don’t relevant, you’re going to be left behind, you’re not going to have any growth, and you’re not going to be able to compete with everything that’s out there.

TRP:  Tell us about your family and what you enjoy doing together.
My kids are 19, 17, and 15, so we’re past the days of Easter egg hunts with mommy. Now, I love to travel with them and they promised me one trip a year. My two boys like gaming, Marvel movies, and DC movies, so I try to connect with them around what they enjoy.

My daughter and I like to read a lot of books together, go for walks, go shopping, and get our nails done. We have a very good relationship, which I’m excited about because it’s something I’ve always wanted.

TRP: If there’s one thing you’d want to be sure this article captures about you or your business, what would it be?
Ultimately, when people see this company in 5-10 years or when you hear Brooke, Ryan, or Elite, you know you’re in good hands.

That we will go above and beyond to make sure that you and the client have a good experience. We value feedback if there’s something you didn’t like, we value feedback on ways we can improve. No growth can occur if you’re not open to feedback. It’s essential for growth.

TRP: What is your definition of success?
Success is not so much about money. For me, success is knowing I have people that respect and love me the same, that surround me and build me up…people that I can depend on. My children and friends are my rocks.
